Beliefspace Studio

Beliefspace Studio

Beliefspace Studio is currently under construction, when finished it will serve as my personal recording space, jamming room and teaching area. The studio will provide the base for forthcoming projects. Watch this space!

Tanglewood Studio

Tanglewood Studio

Beliefspace Studio is my second recording studio. Its first incarnation was Tanglewood Studio which I set-up with funding from the Prince's Trust over ten years ago.

Back in '98 computers were not yet fast enough to handle multitrack audio recording and cheap recording time was in demand. By fixing my price at £10 per hour, and providing package deals, I provided an affordable recording service for many local artists.

Tanglewood Studio ran for almost 8 years, until the conception of Beliefspace Studio.

A Brief History

2010

Construction continues on the new studio space; old plumbing is removed, electrics are fitted, insulation goes into the ceiling. See our New Studio page for more details.

2009

Basement Jam and studio based recording projects are put on hold whilst the heavy building work in the new studio space is undertaken. The studios main recording system is re-spec'd to be portable allowing clients to select their own recording spaces.

2008

Stuart forms Fiercely Independent Records and releases Elika's 'Trying Got Us Nowhere' on Limited Edition Vinyl, CD and digital. Early in 2008 Stuart organsies and co-ordinated a UK tour for the band.

2007

Tanglewood Studio is packed up and moves location. The studio is renamed Beliefspace Studio. Stu & his sister Jo set-up Basement Jam which is launched during the house warming party. Basement Jam runs with local muscians dropping in and out each week.

2006

Stuart aquires a new property with a basement space for the development and building of a new studio.

The Villainy split. Stuart begins looking for a new property to house the studio.

2004

The Villainy, a five piece rock band, is formed. They record a debut album and release the EP 'Sleeping With the Enemy' which is released in the UK through iTunes & Amazon.

2003

Recording artists in 2003 included: Deliverance, Brickbat, Audiocharm as well as voice overs for commercial clients such as Parmanex.

Stuart starts teaching Creative Sound Engineer at Deep Blue Sound in Plymouth. Tanglewood continues recording clients such as Sacrosanct, Brickbat, TwoFour,

2001

This year the studio mixing console was upgraded to a 24 channel Allen & Heath GS3 and the recorder upgraded to an Alesis HD24 allowing the studio to provide 24 track recording. We also added a Pro Tools system for editing and tweaking multitracks and mixes.

2000

Now in it's third year, the studio records local artists such as Tobias Ward-Edwards, Garagevan, Alfie Cicale,

1999

Tanglewood studio continues to run, recording many local artists including: 11:11, Delaware, Mr.Pound, Ruin, Hive amongst many others.

1998

A 19 year old Stuart secures funding from the Prince's Trust to set-up Tanglewood Studio. Based around two black ADATs and a Soundcraft Spirit Studio 16 mixing console, the studio provides affordable sixteen track recording for local bands and musicians.
